Community Obituaries

Joseph Stanley Gunshore, 81, of Greer, SC, passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2023. Joseph was of the Catholic faith, and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who proudly served our country in the Marines. After the Marines, he went on to work at Sealed Air for 37 years. Joe, as he was affectionately known, had many accomplishments, both professionally and personally. One standout is a part he designed and patented for Boeing aircrafts. He was a man of many talents, loved to cook and could build anything. He took great pride in being a Marine and having exemplary work ethic in everything he did. Joe could always be found doing projects, building something or searching out all the bargains in town. His love of family, tinkering and dry sense of humor will be greatly missed.

Joseph was born to the late Stanley and Bertha Gunshore in Reading PA. Joseph is survived by his loving wife, Rosemary Gunshore, and four children: Angela Chapman (Ryan); Shawn Gunshore Bruner; Michael Joseph Gunshore (Kelley); and Stacy Gunshore Cook (Edward). In addition, he leaves behind seven grandchildren: Jordan Chapman, Josie Bruner, Jacob Smallwood, Ava Gunshore, Emilyn Grace Cook, Abigail Louise Cook, and Henry Joseph Cook and a sister, Maryanne Gunshore Spence. He was predeceased by his first wife and mother of his children, Deborah Gunshore and a grandson Zachary.

The family will receive visitors on Saturday, December 2, 2023 from 10:00 -10:45 AM at Mackey Funerals and Cremations, 311 Century Drive, Greenville, SC 29607. His funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM in the chapel at Mackey Century Drive.
